Thistle Do Farm Thistle Do Farm is situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near the base of the "Peaks of Otter" in the County of Bedford, Virginia, and is about halfway between the cities of Roanoke and Lynchburg.
The farm and it's 15 acres is what remains of the original 400 acre homestead which started back at the turn of the 19th century. Built before 1904, the farmhouse is a traditional farm house for that time. The farm fell into neglect and disrepair from the late 60's until bought by the Stewart family in 2001. Since then, both the house and the land itself have undergone numerous changes and modernization, including the addition of 9 outbuildings and two hay barns to accommodate the needs of the animals who reside at Thistle Do Farm.
Today, the farm is still being upgraded when possible, but the main work is being focused on clearing land, installing new fences and getting the pastures back to a more sustainable size.
